JFA was asked by the Trump Organization to generate a concept master plan for a film studio facility in Homestead, Florida. JFA was told that a 600 acre parcel of land, part of which was formerly used by an Air Force base, was being considered for redevelopment. One the ideas being considered was the creation of a film studio of a size and scale that would rival the world’s best known film studios. JFA’s main idea was to organize the studio facilities on a city plan based on traditional urban design concepts such as grids and sight lines. The site is organized along main boulevards that run roughly north-south. Major crossing points become hubs within the complex. The program called for sound-stages, back-lots, and office facilities. Had the project proceeded beyond the first stage, a second stage of development would have included residential and hospitality faculties.
