Vake Park is a green zone located within the city of Tbilisi and the site of a second concept study generated for the same client/landowner in Georgia. The property, a rectangular piece of land, allows for a maximum 2,100 square meters of residential floor area. The uniform and dramatic slope of the property requires stepping the building into three distinct sections. Utilizing the ancient idea of a Roman “Domus”, JFA organized the living spaces of the house around a swimming pool in the U-shaped courtyard. The use of stone and steel lend a solid image and traditional character to the house while the architectural details are very contemporary in nature.
